Airborne Bicycles Out of Business

Airborne Bicycles has been forced to shut down operations after years of financial difficulties. The company, which was founded in 1995, had been one of the leading manufacturers of BMX and mountain bikes. Airborne’s demise is a major blow to the cycling industry, as it was one of the few remaining US-based bike companies.

The company had been struggling in recent years, as sales of its bikes declined and it faced stiff competition from foreign manufacturers. Airborne had been hoping to turn around its fortunes by launching a line of electric bicycles, but that plan never came to fruition. With Airborne now out of business, it’s unclear what will happen to the company’s assets or its employees.

It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of Airborne Bicycles. We want to thank all of our customers for their support over the years. It has been a pleasure serving you.

We have made the difficult decision to close our doors due to mounting financial difficulties. We simply can no longer continue to operate at a loss. We want to assure our customers that all outstanding orders will be fulfilled and warranty claims will be honored.

Thank you again for your support. We hope that you will continue to enjoy riding your Airborne bikes for many years to come.

What Happened to Airborne Bikes?

In the early days of BMX, there were no such things as purpose-built BMX bikes. Kids simply took whatever bike they could find and rode it around, doing stunts and tricks wherever they could. This changed in the 1970s when kids started to modify their bikes to make them better suited for stunt riding.

One of the most popular modifications was adding a set of “airborne” handlebars. These handlebars consisted of two metal rods that stuck up in the air, with a crossbar connecting them at the top. They were named “airborne” because they allowed riders to perform aerial tricks and maneuvers that wouldn’t be possible with regular handlebars.

Airborne bikes were incredibly popular in the BMX world throughout the 1970s and 1980s. So what happened to them? In the late 1980s, BMX began to evolve into what we now know as freestyle BMX.

Riders started using smaller, lighter bikes that were designed specifically for stunt riding and performing tricks. The airborne handlebars fell out of favor because they added unnecessary weight and complexity to these new freestyle bikes. Today, you’re unlikely to see any riders using airborne handlebars on their BMX bike – but if you ever come across an old-school bike with this type of handlebar, you’ll know where it got its name from!

Why are Bicycles Out of Stock Everywhere?

The recent pandemic has caused a massive surge in bicycle sales as people look for alternative methods of transportation that allow them to avoid public transit. This has led to a global shortage of bicycles, with many stores selling out of their inventory and being unable to restock. The high demand for bikes has also driven up prices, making it difficult for some people to purchase them.

There are several reasons why bicycles are in such high demand right now. First, as mentioned, the pandemic has made many people wary of using public transit due to the risk of exposure to the virus. Bicycles offer a much safer way to get around since there is no need to come into contact with other people or surfaces.

Additionally, more people are working from home and have more time for leisure activities like biking. And finally, with gas prices rising, bikes provide a much more affordable mode of transportation than cars. The global bicycle shortage is likely to continue for the foreseeable future as demand remains high and manufacturers struggle to keep up.

If you’re looking to buy a bike, be prepared to pay more than you would have just a few months ago – and be patient as you wait for your new ride to arrive!

Is the Bicycle Shortage Over?

The bicycle shortage is far from over. In fact, it’s only getting worse. The demand for bicycles has skyrocketed in recent years, while the supply has remained relatively static.

This has resulted in a severe shortage of bicycles, especially in urban areas where bike-sharing programs are popular. There are several reasons for the current bicycle shortage. First and foremost, there’s simply more demand for bikes than there used to be.

The popularity of cycling as a mode of transportation and recreation has exploded in recent years, thanks in part to initiatives like bike-share programs. And as more people want to ride bikes, manufacturers can’t keep up with the demand. Another factor contributing to the shortage is that many bicycles are now being made overseas, particularly in China.

This means that there can be long lead times for new orders, and it’s often difficult to predict how many bikes will be available at any given time. Additionally, tariffs on imported goods have made bicycles more expensive, which also contributes to the shortage. So what does this all mean for you?

If you’re looking to buy a bicycle, expect to pay top dollar and be prepared for shortages at your local bike shop. Or, if you’re lucky enough to find a bike in stock, don’t hesitate – it probably won’t be there for long!
